Fines and Fees
Lambton County Library collects fines for overdue materials to encourage the materials' timely return. Lambton County Library also collects fees for lost or damaged materials. Fine and fee revenue is used to off-set the library's operating costs. The collection of fines and fees is set-out in the Lambton County Library's Circulation Policy, the Overdue Accounts and Write Off Policy and the County of Lambton Services and Fees Schedule.
- Overdue fines are charged for every day materials are late.
- Fines are based on the type of material borrowed.
- Fines may be paid when the item is returned or may be accrued on your record for payment later.
- Notices are mailed for fines over $10.00 and / or at least once annually.
- Borrower privileges are suspended for those who accumulate account balances of $15.00 or more.
- If Lambton County Library is unsuccessful in collecting overdue account balances, your account may be forwarded to a collection agency for payment. An administrative fee is added to any accounts submitted to collection agencies.
