Lambton County Library celebrates local student’s success in International Fiero Code contest

Naina Patel in front of laptop with winning game

Wyoming, ON – Lambton County Library is proud to celebrate a young patron, Naina Patel, who earned second place worldwide in the 12 & Under category of the Fiero Code Light Quest competition. The international contest, held from October 1 to November 30, invited hundreds of young coders from libraries and schools around the globe to design a game—using Code Blocks—that restored light to “Planet Fiero.”

Naina, who participated through Lambton County Library’s Clearwater location, impressed judges with her creativity and strong storytelling.

“We are thrilled to see a Lambton County Library participant recognized on the world stage. Naina’s creativity and determination truly shine through her project,” said Vanitia Campbell, Public Services Coordinator, Youth Programs & Outreach. “Programs like Fiero Code help young people build confidence and develop essential digital skills, and we’re proud to support learners like her as they explore, experiment, and succeed.”

Reflecting on the experience, Naina shared: “I’m proud to share that I won second place in the Fiero Code Light Quest competition. This achievement means a lot to me—not just because of the result, but because of the effort behind it. Even though I coded the game, I have to give credit to my mother, who was always there to support me when things got tough. I want to thank Lambton County Library for giving me the opportunity to explore Fiero Code. Finishing second shows that persistence pays off, and it motivates me to aim even higher next time.”

Fiero Code is a self-guided learn-to-code software where users from absolute beginners to experts can make video games, websites, apps, animations, and more. Fiero Code competitions encourage youth to build coding, logic, and design skills in a fun, supportive, and creative environment. Fiero code is free to access for all Lambton County Library cardholders of all ages.
