Family Literacy Day Festival

Saturday, January 25, 2025

9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

January 25 is our Family Literacy Day Festival – a celebration of togetherness, discovery, and the joy of learning. Family Literacy Day reminds us how important reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities is as a family. Don't miss out on the fun – learning has never been this exciting!

This Family Literacy Day, Lambton County Library is hosting a festival at Sarnia Library in coordination with the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery. Visit both sites for fun family activities and for a chance to win prizes like a family movie day at the Sarnia Library Theatre, complete with pizza courtesy of Domino's!

Henna Art

Sarnia Library

Artist Diya will be offering Henna art. The art of Henna called mehndi in Hindi has been practiced in India, Africa, and the Middle East for over 5000 years.  It was originally used for its natural cooling properties for the people living in hot desert climates. Henna is not a tattoo - a tattoo is permanent as ink pierces the skin, while henna is a temporary dye which sits on the skin's surface. Henna is also used to safely dye hair, nails, and fabric like silk, wool, and leather.
