Branch assistant April Fresh stands beside 40 books at Petrolia Library. The '40 Books' reading challenge is now available to adult patrons through the Beanstack mobile app and website.

Wyoming, ON – Lambton County Library is encouraging the community to kick off the new year with a renewed love of reading through expanded challenges and brand-new social features in the Beanstack reading platform.

“With flexible timelines and engaging themes, these reading challenges are perfect for all types of readers,” said Adrianne Lebert, Public Services Coordinator, Adult Programs and Outreach. “We encourage people to join a community of readers, participate in some friendly competition, and motivate themselves to expand their world through reading.”

New Social Features: Friends and Leaderboards
Starting in 2026, Lambton County Library’s Beanstack users can now add friends and build a personal reading network. This feature allows participants to view each other’s reading logs, see challenge histories and earned badges, and engage in friendly competition through shared leaderboards.

New Reading Challenges for All Ages
Lambton County Library is launching several new challenges in 2026:
• 40 Books Challenge (Adults): read or listen to 40 books across ten genres at your own pace.
• 500 Hours Before Graduation (Ages 13-18): read or listen for 500 hours before high school graduation
• 500 Books Challenge (Ages 6 – 12): Read or listen to 500 books before age 12
• 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten (Birth – Age 5): Read or listen to 1,000 books before kindergarten.

Participants earn entries into monthly prize draws, and anyone who completes one of these challenges will be entered into a year-end grand prize draw.

How to Participate
Challenge participation is managed online through the Beanstack platform. To register, visit Lambton.Beanstack.org or download the Beanstack Tracker App on a mobile device.
