Lambton County Library Launching Library by Mail Service
Wyoming, ON – After piloting a small Library by Mail service since 2024, Lambton County Library is fully launching the service to all library card holders with an accessible category membership.
The Library by Mail service allows eligible cardholders to borrow books in regular print, large print, multilingual, and ESL (English as a Second Language) learning formats, as well as audiobooks, DVDs, and magazines, all delivered to the library cardholder’s mailbox. Materials are shipped through Canada Post with a prepaid, pre-addressed return envelope included in each package.
“Lambton County Library has piloted this Library by Mail Service to nine patrons over the last two years,” said Darlene Coke, Manager, Library Services. “Now that we have had a little more experience with the logistics related to operating this service, we are pleased to be able to publicly launch the service and to continue our work removing any barriers to people accessing library service in Lambton County.”
To use this service, cardholders must first register for an accessible library membership. Accessible library memberships are offered to those cannot access a physical library location due to a disability, medical condition, or a lack of transportation Once registered, items can be reserved through the library’s online catalogue, its mobile app, or by phone. Staff are available to assist with reservations at 1-866-324-6912 ext. 5900, Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. When reserving, cardholders must select “Library by Mail” as the pickup location.
