Lambton County Library welcomes author and advocate Gabriel Allahdua

Wyoming, ON – Lambton County Library is hosting a talk with author and advocate Gabriel Allahdua at Sarnia Library Theatre on Friday, February 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Allahdua will share insights from his memoir Harvesting Freedom: The Life of a Migrant Worker in Canada.

Harvesting Freedom highlights Allahdua’s personal experiences as a former migrant worker and examines Canada’s role in the history of slavery, colonialism, and inequality connecting the Caribbean to the wider world.

The book has garnered significant recognition, including the Speakers Book Award from the Legislative Assembly of Ontario (2023) and the Mayworks Activist Award for Excellence in Contribution to Labour Arts (2023).

Originally from St. Lucia, Gabriel Allahdua worked as a migrant farm worker in the Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program (SAWP) in Leamington, Ontario from 2012 to 2015. Now a leading voice in the migrant justice movement, Allahdua helps provide services to migrant workers across southwestern Ontario through several organizations.
