Town hall scheduled to gather feedback on potential merger of Sombra and Port Lambton libraries

Wyoming, ON - Lambton County Library is inviting residents to share their thoughts on proposed changes to library services in St. Clair Township during an upcoming town hall meeting on Wednesday, October 1 at 6:00 p.m. at the Port Lambton Community Hall.
Following a Joint Library Facilities Review in 2023 that studied the physical location, condition and suitability of Lambton County Library’s 25 branch libraries for their suitability to deliver a modern library service, Lambton County Library has developed a proposal to enhance services in southern St. Clair Township. The option being explored is to consolidate services at Port Lambton and Sombra Libraries to one expanded location in Sombra, which could allow for enhanced programming and resources. The proposal aims to ensure library services continue to effectively serve the community while adapting to modern demands and usage patterns.
"Libraries everywhere are transforming to better serve their communities," said Darlene Coke, Manager, Library Services. “While changes are required to provide a facility that can offer users a modern library experience now and for decades into the future, we want to hear from area residents about how changes may impact them so that both St. Clair Township and Lambton County Councils can make informed decisions about the proposal to consolidate the two library branches.”
The town hall meeting will provide an opportunity for residents to learn about the proposed changes and share their perspectives with both St. Clair Township and Lambton County Councils. Input from all community members is welcome, whether they are regular library users, occasional visitors, or those who don't currently use library services.
The town hall meeting will be facilitated by Bryan Boyle, a third-party facilitator. Light refreshments will be provided.
While pre-registration is not required, residents who would like to pre-register can visit lclibrary.ca/town-hall.
