Adult Summer Reading Challenge

July 2 - August 11, 2024

Register on Beanstack, an electronic reporting software that can be accessed using a mobile device or computer, or at any Lambton County Library location. Log the books you read and participate in activities to earn badges to win prizes. Challenge yourself to read something different this summer!

Activity Badges

Earn activity badges while exploring the community for a chance to win a prize. Adults will be entered into a draw to win one of five $50 Tourism Sarnia-Lambton Gift Certificates for each Beanstack badge earned for the activity they completed.

 Challenge Yourshelf Badge

Get out of your comfort zone and read a genre that you haven't explored before! Six genres have been selected and reading lists will be available if you are looking for suggestions. Read one book in any of the genres listed and earn the Challenge Yourshelf activity badge:

  • Book by an Indigenous author
  • Book published before 1950
  • Speculative fiction
  • Historical fiction
  • Modern retelling of a classic
  • Nonfiction history
 Active Transportation Badge

Choose one of the following active forms of transportation instead of driving this summer to earn the Active Transportation activity badge:

  • Walk
  • Bike
  • Ride a horse
  • Run
  • Roller blade
  • Wheelchair
 Adventurer Badge

 Complete one of the following activities to earn the Adventurer activity badge:

  • Visit a local museum
  • Enjoy a local park, beach, or nature trail
  • Visit a Story Walk
  • Visit a local landmark
 Family Tree Badge
 Complete one of the following activities to earn the Family Tree activity badge:
  • Make and try an old family recipe
  • Use one of the History and Genealogy resources listed on our website, tell us which one and what you learned
  • Visit the Lambton County Archives
  • Attend or register for a Show & Tell program
 Lifelong Learner Badge

 Complete one of the following activities to earn the Lifelong Learner activity badge:

  • Sign up for a library card
  • Watch a virtual Author Talk – livestream or recorded
  • Try reading in Libby – eBook, eAudiobook, or eMagazine
  • Attend a library program
  • Try one of our Online Courses – LinkedIn Learning, Gale or Mango

 Completion Prize Draw

Any adult who completes the challenge by earning all the activity badges will be entered into a draw to win their choice of a prize valued at $200. The winner will be able to select from the following:
