Forest Library student page, Eliza Cudmore Rombouts, gets behind the camera to promote this year's Teen Photo Contest "Focus: B&W". Submissions are currently being accepted through June 21, 2026

Wyoming, ON— The Teen Photo Contest, presented by Lambton County Library, Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery (JNAAG), and Lambton College, is now open for submissions. This year’s theme, Focus: B&W, invites teens to create and submit black-and-white photographs for the juried contest.

“The Teen Photo Contest gives young people real-world experience they can add to a resume or portfolio” said Vanitia Campbell, Public Services Coordinator - Youth Programs & Outreach, Lambton County Library. “Participating in a juried exhibition, meeting submission deadlines, and having work professionally displayed are valuable achievements that support future education and career goals.”

“Teens can participate using any device with a camera, whether it is a smartphone, point-and-shoot, or DSLR,” said Rose Canino, Exhibition Support and Education Coordinator, Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery “What matters most is creativity, perspective, and how they interpret the black-and-white theme.”

The Teen Photo Contest is open to Lambton County residents aged 13 to 18. Submissions will be accepted from Wednesday, April 1 to Sunday, June 21, 2026. Participants can submit up to five (5) photographs through the online portal at lclibrary.ca/teenphotocontest. Grand prize winners and finalists will be selected by a panel of industry experts, with selected works exhibited at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery from Friday, Aug. 7 to Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026.

Submission Categories:

  1. Landscapes and Cityscapes
  2. Portraits – People, Pets, Wildlife
  3. Macro and Close-ups

Prizes
Three category winners and one Grand Prize winner will be announced on Friday, June 26, 2026.
Winners will receive a professionally printed and framed copy of their photograph, along with a Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery Family Membership. Membership benefits include a 10% discount on Gallery purchases (including classes and programs), and reciprocal admission to participating museums and galleries across Ontario through Galleries Ontario.
In addition, the Grand Prize winner will receive their choice of a $100 award: a gift certificate to Mainframe, a gift certificate to Carmen’s Foto Source, or a virtual one-on-one mentoring session with award-winning photographer Peter Power.

Focus: B&W Exhibition and Awards Ceremony
The opening reception for the "Focus: B&W" exhibition will take place on Friday, Aug. 7, and will feature an awards ceremony for the participating teens and their friends and families.
